4-H Public Speaking

Learning to give a speech is one of the most valuable skills you can learn as a 4-H member. This skill is something you will use no matter what career path you take as an adult.

4-H members in grades 4 and 5 will present their speeches during their November/December club meetings.

4-H members in grades 6 – 12 will present their speeches during the open County Public Speaking contest in January.

Time Limits for speeches are:

4th grade: 1-3 minutes
5th  – 8th grades: 2-4 minutes
9th – 12th grades: 5-7 minutes

Topics for your speech:

4th  – 8th grade:Members may speak on any topic.
9th – 12th grade:Members must speak on a 4-H related subject.
