About Us

We are an outreach branch of the University of Tennessee, providing services and opportunities to the residents of Putnam County.

UT Extension Putnam County is part of the Cooperative Extension Service System operated through The University of Tennessee, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Putnam County Government cooperating together. We are funded through a cooperative agreement between federal, state and county governments. All of our programs are offered to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, age, national origin, sex or disability and we are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Putnam County is located in Middle Tennessee between Nashville and Knoxville. Putnam County includes the cities of Algood, Baxter, Cookeville, and Monterey. Points of interest in the area are Burgess Falls State Park, Cummins Falls State Park, Window Cliffs State Natural Area, and Center Hill Lake are among the many attractions in and around the county. Putnam County has a population of 80,245 with 403 square miles.
